What is W sitting?
Many kids with delays in speech, motor, cognitive, etc "w sit" typical children also "w sit"
It becomes concerning when it is the child's go to position. Excessive W sitting inhibits proper motor skills, moving the trunk area properly, and crossing the mid line.
When Grace first started her services she would W sit like it was her job. We would take her and lift her to sit on her bottom and say "fix your legs". Eventually Grace was able to switch from "w" to bottom sitting with just the verbal commands "fix your legs".
It took time and patience. But the less she sat W, the more improvement I saw with her motor skills, especially crossing her mid line.
